School of Writing for the Screen

Do you have a vision for a story you want to tell, but aren't quite sure how to tell it? Whether you are an experienced writer or a complete novice, all it takes is one inspiring idea to get you started on the path of screenwriting. This school is designed for writers who have a story to tell and who are interested in expanding their artistry and vision into the field of screenwriting.

Guided by knowledgeable staff and professional guest speakers, the School of Writing for the Screen provides intensive training in the following areas:

  • Introduction to the craft of story structure and development
  • Script formatting
  • Character development
  • Short screenplay
  • Feature length screenplay
  • Co-writing
  • Working directly with students in the film school to see films through production
  • Internship opportunities
  • Lectures & workshops with professionals in the industry

What to Expect

Writers will have opportunities for one-on-one mentoring with knowledgeable staff, with opportunities to have their scripts work-shopped. By the conclusion of the program, each student will have completed a full length screenplay and a number of students will have their short scripts produced in collaboration with the students in The School of Digital Filmmaking.
